What we collect and why

  • Your name, phone number and email, to run your account, tell you about matches, and (only after the steps below) let a swapmate contact you.
  • Your TSC number and a photo of your TSC card, only to check that you are a real TSC teacher.
  • Your section, subjects, current station and the places you want to move to, to find you a swapmate.
  • Payment records (amount, reference, status). We never see or store your card or M-Pesa PIN. Payments are handled by Paystack.

Who can see what

  • Everyone, including visitors: an anonymous listing with your section, subjects, county and sub-county, and where you want to move. No name, school, phone, email or TSC number.
  • A matched teacher: your first name and the initial of your surname, section, subjects, area and wishes.
  • A swapmate who has paid to unlock you (only after you both said you are interested): your full name, school, phone and email.
  • Our verification staff: your TSC number and card photo, to review them.
  • Nobody else. Your TSC number is never shown to other teachers. We do not sell your data.

How long we keep it

  • Your TSC card photo is deleted as soon as we have decided your verification.
  • Your TSC number is stored encrypted for as long as your account exists.
  • Your account and swap details are kept while your account is open.
  • Payment records are kept as long as the law requires for accounting.

Your rights

Under the Kenya Data Protection Act, 2019 you can ask to see, correct or delete your personal data, and to object to how we use it. Email support@mwalimuswaps.com and we will respond within the time the law requires.

How we protect it

  • Passwords are hashed and never stored in plain text.
  • TSC numbers are encrypted at rest.
  • Your phone and email are only released to a swapmate after the consent and payment steps above.
  • Admin access requires two-step sign-in, and admin actions are logged.
