1. Who we are

Mwalimuswaps is an independent platform that helps Kenyan teachers find other teachers who want to swap stations. By creating an account you agree to these terms.

2. We are not TSC

Mwalimuswaps is not affiliated with or endorsed by the Teachers Service Commission (TSC). We do not approve, process or guarantee teacher transfers. A match on Mwalimuswaps does not mean TSC will approve a transfer. The official transfer process, its rules and its decision belong to TSC alone.

3. What you pay for

Creating an account, publishing a swap request and finding matches are free. When you and another teacher have both said you are interested, each of you may pay KSh 299 to unlock the other's contact details. The payment is for the matching and contact service. It is not a fee for a transfer, and it does not buy a swap or an outcome.

You pay to our M-Pesa Till. We confirm each payment by checking our till statement for your M-Pesa confirmation code, so unlocking is done by a person and may take a little longer outside working hours.

Each teacher pays for their own unlock. If you unlock a swapmate's details, they are told, and they may then choose to unlock yours.

4. Your responsibilities

• Give true information, including your TSC number, name, section, subjects, station and contact details.
• Use only your own TSC number, and only one account.
• Keep your login private.
• Use a swapmate's contact details only to discuss a swap. Do not share them, sell them, or use them for any other purpose.
• Never ask a swapmate, or anyone you meet through Mwalimuswaps, for money. Mwalimuswaps staff will never ask you for money outside the checkout.
• Agree and carry out the swap yourselves, and follow TSC's rules.

5. Fraud and misrepresentation

We may suspend or remove any account that gives false information, impersonates another teacher, harasses others, or tries to defraud anyone. You can report a swapmate from their match page. We review reports and may refund an unlock where a profile was false.

6. Refunds

If, within 7 days of unlocking, you report that your swapmate's profile was false or that their contact details were wrong, and our review agrees, we will refund your KSh 299 to the method you paid with.

We do not refund because you changed your mind, because your swapmate did not agree to swap, or because TSC did not approve a transfer.

7. Listings expire

A swap request stays active for 90 days. We remind you before it ends and you can renew it. Expired requests stop appearing in matches.

8. Our liability

We do our best to verify teachers, but we cannot guarantee every statement a teacher makes, and we are not a party to any agreement between teachers. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for losses arising from a swap, a failed transfer, or a decision by TSC.
